A bit of house cleaning has gone on over the last couple of weeks. I apologize for any missing links… next step in the move is to write an intelligent, bullet-proof “URL not found” script to catch any old links and redirect them to appropriate new URLs.
And if is wasn’t 4am, I’d write a little more about what’s going on here :) but that will have to wait until sleep lets go of me.
zzzzzzzzzz…
2:20-ish pm—I’m back. Okay, so welcome to the new star29 site.
Here’s some background info:
March 1, 2005 marked the termination point of my employment for Youth Specialties. This was a non-hostile, open, mutual decision and after 5 years it was time to move on. In September of 2003, my wife and I moved our family to Alabama (longer story for another post) and I started telecommuting full-time. While still an incredible company to work for, changes were brewing at YS that made being a telecommuter very difficult.
YS is made of incredible people who work together in very organic, constantly shifting ways doing amazing things and the more time went by, the more I was not a part of those working methods, solely due to telecommuting. Had I been in the office, things would definitely be different.
Star29 started about two years ago, but only as another side project and a place to do personal development.
Star29, what? Where did that come from?
If you know me and Jen (my wife), you’d know our kids are our whole world. Before our daughter was born we were sitting under a giant panda discussing possible names. With our son, we knew what we were having so we hadn’t really gone through girl names. We weren’t sure what child #2 would be so we had both options in discussion.
I don’t rememebr how this came up, but we both lit up with the middle name of “Star” for a girl. And, as fate would have it, our son was born on Leap Day in 2000. So there you go… Star29.
Open for business
So now, Star29 is my full-time job designing, building, helping people with their web projects, and Jen is my invaluable partner, managing the schedule, invoicing, and all the other office-type things that go on with doing this stuff.
